Home Remedies For Your Shiniest and Softest Hair Ever

There are many super easy ways to get the hair of your dreams, with ingredients you likely have in your kitchen already! Here are a few home remedies that will leave your hair the shiniest and softest it has ever been.

Egg Yolk

Egg yolk is one of the most used home remedies because it contains hair growth peptides and fatty acid. The peptides promote growth and improve the overall health of your hair while the fatty acid helps nourish and moisturize hair, leaving it shiny and beautiful.

How to use:

  1. Mix 2 tbsp of coconut, olive, or vitamin E oil with 2 eggs and ½ cup of yogurt or honey. You can also use egg-based mayonnaise if you are out of eggs.

  2. Wet your hair and massage this mixture on the scalp and hair.

  3. Rinse after 30 minutes with cold water and shampoo your hair as usual.  

Oil

Oiling regularly is highly encouraged for hair shine and health. The following oils are your best choices, coconut, Moroccan argan, olive, jojoba, sunflower, almond, and avocado. They all work great and it’s because of their high fatty acid content which helps moisturize hair.

How to use:

  1. Slightly warm any of the oils and massage into your hair and scalp.

  2. Leave it overnight or shampoo your hair after 30 minutes.

Coffee

Coffee has polyphenols and bioflavonoids which help make your hair smooth, shiny, and soft.

How to use:

  1. Massage damp hair with cooled, brewed coffee.

  2. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing.

Avocado

The vitamin and fatty acid in avocado impart shine to hair and give it a healthy look.

How to use:

  1. Mash one avocado and mix in 2 tbsp of olive or almond oil. You can also add a ripe, mashed banana to this.

  2. Apply the mixture on slightly damp hair from roots to ends.

  3. Wash your hair after 30 minutes.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar improves the smoothness and shine of your hair.

How to use:

  1. Mix ACV or beer with cold water.

  2. Apply the mixture to shampooed hair and scalp.

  3. Rinse after a few minutes.

Yogurt

Yogurt helps condition the hair, it makes it smooth and soft.

How to use:

  1. Massage yogurt into your hair.

  2. Rinse it off with water after 15–20 minutes.

  3. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual.

Aloe vera gel

Aloe vera gel has polysaccharide content, an efficient moisturizing agent, that helps make hair smooth and shiny.

How to use:

  1. Mix 4 tbsp of aloe vera gel with 3 tbsp of yogurt and 2 tbsp of coconut oil.

  2. Apply the paste to damp hair.

  3. Rinse your hair after 30 minutes.

Honey

Honey, a natural humectant, helps hydrate and lock in moisture in the hair.

How to use:

  1. Mix 1–2 tsp of almond or olive oil with organic honey.

  2. Apply the mixture to your hair.

  3. Rinse your hair after 15 minutes.
