How To Make The Most Out of Your Time in The Shower

Showering is essential to our personal hygiene and something we all deserve to enjoy. Follow these tips below in order to have the most effective cleanse:

1.Keep your shower time short

It is best to keep your shower to under 15 minutes. We’ve all been guilty of lingering under the hot water while showering, but something you may not have known is how this negatively impacts your skin.

When your skin becomes wrinkly it means that it has had excessive contact with water and has become dehydrated, and likely you have stripped away your skin oils that seal in moisture. The reason behind the dehydration and wrinkling is the pH level of your tap water and how it differs from the pH level of your skin. The pH level of tap water is usually around 7, while normal skin pH is in the range of 4.2 to 5.6. Exposing your skin to tap water for an excessive amount of time is extremely dehydrating.

Next time you are in the shower try timing yourself. See how long it takes you to shower and then make any necessary adjustments to cut down that time if need be, there’s no reason a shower has to be longer than 15 minutes.

2. Shower from top to bottom

Showering from top to bottom means you want to shampoo your hair first, which will ensure that you filter the dirt down your body. As you cleanse your body, you will get ride of the sebum and oil.

Going by this sequence, you want to wash your face AFTER cleaning your hair so that you don’t get the dirt from your hair or the ingredients of your shampoo into your cleansed face.

Shaving should be saved for the end of the shower. If you spent too long in the shower your hair will likely be swollen from too much heat and steam, so be careful not to waste time, because hair swelling leads to ingrown hair.

Post shower:

Moisturize your skin immediately after showering

Your skin becomes drier after showering so you must remember to apply a moisturizer! Applying moisturizer over damp skin will allow you to lock in the moisture left over on your skin from the shower.
