Morning Skincare Routine
Cleanser
Toner
Serums
Moisturizer
Sunscreen
We will go into depth on why each step is important, and then give you a DIY option that you can make your self, and ideally swap it with a store bought product.
Cleanser
Cleansing is so incredibly important as it deep cleans and gets rid of all of the excess dirt, makeup, and impurities on your skin. This will help to keep your skin clear, healthy, and radiant. Without cleansing, your skin will be more prone to breakouts, dehydration, and premature aging.
DIY CLEANSER:
Mix 1 tbsp of organic honey with the juice from half a lemon. Apply the mask, covering your face and neck but avoiding the area near your eyes. Wait 20 minutes, then wash off with warm water, followed by cold water. Pat dry.
Toner
Toners are usually designed to restore balance and hydration to your skin after cleansing, but they can also help minimize the appearance of pores, temporarily tighten skin, and naturally remove oil and dirt. Toners also prepare the skin to drink up your post-cleansing skin treatments.
DIY TONER:
To make a natural toner, mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 2 parts water, and shake well. Apply to a clean face with a cotton ball or pad.
Serums
Serum is a skincare product you can apply to your skin after cleansing, but before moisturizing, with the intent of delivering powerful ingredients directly into the skin. Serum is particularly suited to this task because it is made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. There are many different types of serums, each with a unique purpose and ingredient list. Some serums help to brighten your skin or reduce blemishes, while others focus on boosting hydration or fighting the signs of aging.
DIY SERUM:
Mix together 2 tbsp of Rosehip Oil, 2 tbsp of Jojoba Oil, and 20 drops of Essential Oils in an Amber Glass Dropper Bottle. To decide on what essential oils to choose, read this information here about which oils match your skin preferences.
Moisturizer
Moisturizers hydrate the surface layers of the skin. Their main skin benefit is that they seal the skin, locking in moisture and nutrients, while protecting the skin from environmental irritants. Moisturizers improve skin hydration and increases stratum corneum water content by directly providing water to the skin from their water phase and increasing occlusion to reduce trans-epidermal water loss, it also covers small skin fissures, provides a soothing protective film and protects skin from friction.
DIY MOISTURIZER:
In a container of your choice, mix together 2 tablespoons argan oil, 1 tablespoon marula oil, 1 tablespoon rosehip oil, 12 drops carrot seed oil, 5 drops rose essential oil, 5 drops lavender essential oil.
Sunscreen
Sunscreen protects the skin. It plays an important role in blocking ultraviolet (UV) radiation from being absorbed by the skin. UV radiation damages the skin and can lead to sunburns, wrinkles and skin cancer. Wearing sunscreen is one of the best — and easiest — ways to protect your skin's appearance and health at any age.
DIY SUNSCREEN:
Ingredients:
1/4 cup coconut oil (has an SPF of 7)
